Travelling to and from school safely, by modes of sustainable transport, continues to be high on the Oakthorpe agenda.
The children’s awareness of road safety and transport has continued to develop due to lessons, assemblies and visitors and special events such as ‘Walk to Wonderland’.
The school travel plan coordinator alongside SMT, governors and school council members ensure the travel plan is written, reviewed and new targets are set every year.
Our current targets are:
To increase the number of students using sustainable modes of travel on the way to school.
To increase the safety of the roads around the school and the
school site.
To increase the community’s knowledge and understanding of road safety and sustainable travel
We entered a competition to write a rap about walking to school . . . and we won!
Our 'Walking to Wonderland' was a great success.
We encourage everyone who can to walk to school or park responsibly in Tile Kiln Lane.
