  • To provide a caring and fun environment for children of all key stages
  • To provide a wide range of activities to engage and occupy children
  • To provide equal opportunities for all children regardless of their age, cultural background, race, or other identified needs, by ensuring we select and train staff to provide a varied programme of activities, using equipment that is safe and appropriate
  • To help children develop their potential through positive, social, emotional, physical and intellectual experiences.

Admissions

Only pupils attending Oakthorpe Primary School are eligible to attend. All places are subject to availability. The registration process must be completed prior to the child attending the club.

Booking

All children must be pre-booked into Squirrels After School Club and parents/carers must complete a registration form that provides us with basic information including the names of any adults who may collect the child/ren other than the parent/carer. To secure a place you will need to book in advance with payment. Bookings and payments must be made via Parent Pay. Parents will be able to book days and sessions of their choice. If you wish to pay childcare voucher, please ensure you have the school’s correct account and ID number before transferring any payments to the school. If you are unsure, please contact the school first before making a payment.

Times

Squirrels After School Club will run from the end of the school day to 6 pm in the school hall. A member of staff will take younger children around to the school hall. Children in Years 3,4,5 and 6 will make their own way to the hall via the school corridors. Children MUST be collected no later than 6 pm. Any parents collecting their children after this time may incur additional costs. There is also an option to place your child in the club until 4:45 pm. Children may attend an alternative after school club and then transfer into the extended care club until 6 pm.

Activities

Due to the different members of staff running Squirrels After School Club each evening, the activities will be slightly different each day. However, they will be structured into three main categories; physical activities, creative activities and free-play activities. Children are able to choose from a menu of activities each day. Activities may also include the use of indoor areas including the use of the climbing frame in the KS1 playground. Children are supervised at all times. The timetable of activities may be revised due to weather conditions.

Cost

The cost for Squirrels After School Club will be £9.00 for the session that ends at 6 pm and £4.50 for the sessions that ends at 4:45 pm. If a child is booked for the session that ends at 4:45 pm but is collected late, the parent/carer will be charged the full £9.00. Refunds for absence/non-attendance will not be given. Early collections will not result in reduced payment or refunds. If a parent is experiencing difficulty with payments of their fees, they should contact the school office staff as soon as possible. Our staff will treat all matters confidentially and arrange for discussions in private. In the first instance of lateness, a warning letter will be issued and following that, the school may fine for the late collection at a rate of £1 for every 5 minutes past 6 pm.
