Secondary School Transfer

When your child is in year 6, you will be asked to choose a secondary school for the next stage of your child’s education. Parents will be given advice and support from us, as well as from the secondary schools and the Local Authority. The school will hold a meeting for all year 6 parents at the start of the autumn term to explain the application process and answer any questions. Our Parent Support Adviser is always willing to meet with parents to support them to complete the application process. The Enfield Schools Admission Service also organise information sessions which are detailed in the secondary transfer brochure.

All schools hold an open evening and many offer the opportunity to visit during the school day. It is important that you take the time to visit as many schools as possible. If your child has a statement of Special Educational Needs, the arrangements for your child’s transfer will be different. The SEN Services Team will contact you directly to explain the process further. You should also arrange a meeting with the school’s Inclusion Manager to discuss the options available.
